On their trip to New York on Wednesday to celebrate Nick Coole’s 40th birthday, he and his wife, Voirrey Coole, from the Isle of Man, received a surprise neither of them expected.
The pair was on their way to the Big Apple when they were suddenly delayed by airport security. When the employees discovered a cat inside their suitcase, they couldn’t believe their eyes. Candy, their cat, had sneaked into their suitcase, and the small girl was visibly upset at being abandoned.
“We didn’t have much in our hand luggage, so we were able to bring shopping home.” But Candy, our cat, found a way in, and we were all headed to the airport. “After the bag had gone past the scanner, airport security was perplexed and repeatedly asked if the bag was ours,” Coole said.
This wasn’t the first time Coole had hitched a ride out of their house, she said. “She once went missing for two weeks, only to be located in a different town when we were on vacation.” We believe she boarded a construction van. She’s an expert at squeezing into tight spaces.”
The airport workers had never seen anything like it before, but when they discovered it was a genuine mistake, they all laughed heartily. Fortunately, everyone pitched in to make sure Coole didn’t miss his important vacation. Candy was picked up by Nick and Voirrey’s pals, allowing the couple to board their aircraft to the United States before it took off.
“The personnel was fantastic, and they assisted us in getting our Candy home in time for our departure,” Coole added.
“You know that sensation when you get taken into a side room at airport security because you’ve got a cat in your hand luggage?” Nick posted on Facebook after the unique flying experience. Candy snuck into our handbag, so thanks to Barry and Lorna for picking her up so we could get on with our vacation. Airport security deserves credit for assisting us in getting her home so we could catch our flight.”
