Francis is a three-year-old street kitten that was recently rescued. Francis’ problem was that he was so little – he couldn’t even fit in a spoon! No one expected Francis to survive, but the cat was determined to do so and eventually did.
Francis was taken to the NOVA cat clinic by his rescuers, where he was diagnosed with a cardiac murmur and hormone deficit. The team knew the kitten would need special foster care to survive, so they contacted Ellen Carozza right away.
Ellen is a bit of an expert in these situations. Over the years, the vet tech has fostered a number of cats and fell in love with Francis at first sight. The feline didn’t spend any time settling into her new home. It quickly grew rather vocal, and he enjoyed cuddling with his foster mother.
However, he was still a baby, and Ellen was continually concerned about his health. As she relates, things were tight for the first week, but Francis became stronger as time passed. The kitten began to develop every day, providing Ellen with much-needed comfort.
Francis, according to Ellen, has never thought of himself as a small kitty. He’s a self-reliant cat who acts like all cats do, oblivious to his evident flaws.
After a few months at Ellen’s, she determined that he needed to find a new home. It didn’t take her long to discover the ideal parents. She performed an adoption ceremony for a lovely couple who couldn’t wait to take him home with them.
Francis doesn’t let the fact that he’s smaller than a conventional cat stops him from accomplishing his goals. You’ve done a fantastic job, cat!
