Speedo was born with a condition called Swimmers Syndrome. Because he is unique, no one believed he would live. He was stuck in the shelter until a kind foster family came along and gave him the second opportunity he so richly deserved. It’s been a year since that time.
“This is Speedo, a foster kitty with a disability who was born with it.” “He is the world’s most loving and kindest kitten,” Katz remarked on YouTube.
“However, he is incontinent due to nerve injury.” Because of his incontinence, the shelter has decided to euthanize him because the expected adopter pool is too tiny for a shelter to take him in until we can find him a forever home.”
“Speedo is not in any pain, is not suffering now or in the future, and has the potential to live a long and healthy life.” The decision to euthanize was made solely on the basis of a forecasted tiny adopter pool. Furthermore, he is not expected to require medical treatment, thus his medical costs would be $0.00! “The only additional costs would be for puppy pads/puppy diapers if his new family chose to use them,” she added.
“He is ambulatory and, aside from his incontinence, appears to be in good health.” In the end, he deserves a chance at a happy life in a caring environment. And we know there’s someone out there who can give him the time, attention, and affection he deserves to live a long, healthy, and happy life.”
“We were quite lucky to be contacted by an absolutely great couple who lives in our neighborhood. They were able to view Speedo, and he seemed to quickly captivate their hearts, just as he had ours.”
“And now we have the peace of mind of knowing that he will be given a fair chance and that he will enjoy a long, healthy life full of the love and care he deserves, with two amazing parents and a new, older step-brother.”
