The action of this story happened in a small Malaysian town. Bystanders noticed a man in a wheelchair traveling fast along the sidewalk. A pedestrian route ran alongside the canal, protected from the water by a patch of grass and a bushy fence. The canal was completely filled with water after recent heavy rains. The man quickly came to a halt, exited his wheelchair, and began to approach closer to the water with his hands. Passers-by couldn’t comprehend what made the person act so suddenly because everything was moving at such a fast pace.
The man pushed himself forward till he reached the water’s edge. Only then did the people in the area realize what was causing his weird behavior: a small kitten was dangling from the edge of the slabs, clinging to the lawn with all his strength, risking falling into the raging river.
The man most likely observed the animal while crossing the canal on the bridge and rushed to its rescue. Even though he had no legs, the man did not hesitate to handle the matter on his own. The man was drenched from his contact with water, and the road to the canal was evidently difficult for him, but his efforts were well worth it: he had saved the animal’s life.
When the kitty felt solid ground beneath his feet, he tried to thank his savior by running around him. The man’s and animal’s fates are unknown, but I’d like to imagine that the baby has found a new home. Even if this isn’t the case, he was given a priceless gift: life, and thus the possibility of happiness.
