You won’t believe why this poor 20-year-old deaf cat was dumped at a shelter… Read on to know why and how his story unfolded…

When Rascal, a charming white cat, was delivered to the shelter, he was bewildered and disoriented. The family said on his admission application that they were surrendering him because he was “aged and having accidents in the house.”

For being “too old,” a 20-year-old senior cat was surrendered to the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Despite his age and deafness, he had no other health problems and was in excellent health.

When the shelter staff first saw Rascal, they were taken aback, and they knew they had to help him find a new forever home as soon as possible. They shared a video of Rascal on their Facebook page, which instantly went viral.

In the video, “Rascal” says, “Someone out there has got to feel sorry for me.” “I’m a really kind cat, but I’m deaf, so I don’t pay attention very well… Again, I’m 20, and I’m trapped in a shelter, please help me get out.”

Amazingly, miracles do happen, and Rascal only stayed at the shelter for one night. Meredith, a kind-hearted lady, decided to adopt Rascal and bring him home. Finally, the gentle cat met the person he had been looking for.

“Last night, I was browsing and came upon him. He just tugged on the appropriate quantity of heartstrings. I couldn’t bear the thought of him spending another night at a shelter,” she said.

Rascal was timid at first, but he rapidly adjusted to his new surroundings. He enjoyed hanging out with Meredith’s other cats and resting on his mother’s lap or next to her on the sofa.

Rascal unfortunately died of cancer in June 2018 and was placed to rest. Meredith posted a heartfelt photo of her favorite kitty on Facebook.

“He defied all odds in the past several months and made his way into my family’s hearts,” Meredith wrote. “There will never be another cat like him,” she added. Even though he was only with us for a short time, he left a great hole in our hearts.”

Even though Rascal was no longer with us, we took comfort in the idea that he had found a loving home and had spent his last days in the love he deserved.
