If you believe it is more difficult for old shelter pets to find new homes, you are mistaken. While most individuals favor adorable small companions, there are always circumstances that force them to make remarkable decisions.
When this family visited a shelter, they decided to adopt Gus, a 19-year-old cat. You may ask why… But, in reality, the cat was adopted by Mrs. Penny, the family’s oldest lady, who turned 101 earlier this year.
Gus’s journey began a month before he was adopted. He was brought to the Humane Society of Catawba County at the time because his previous owner could no longer afford to care for him. Gus was welcomed with open arms by the staff when he arrived at the shelter.
People were concerned that he would take a long time to find a new owner because of his condition. He was taken just a few weeks after he was presented for adoption, which was a big surprise. Lady Penny, her new mother, had recently lost her beloved cat and was looking for a new companion. They met as if it had been written in the stars for them to meet.
Gus seemed to be the perfect match for everything Penny wanted at the time. They liked each other immediately, and the cute kitten didn’t take long to adjust to her new surroundings. Gus is now happily living with his forever family. He enjoys watching squirrels and being close to Penny.
Older pets have a tougher difficulty finding new families, but Gus, an elderly cat, was fortunate enough to find a new companion quite quickly.
We are delighted for Gus and Penny, and thank you for reading!
