Every day, we hear of kittens or puppies that did not make it through the winter. It’s a rough world out there for stray animals, but we’re grateful that there are still caring humans who choose to rescue a life rather than ignore it.
A lady was walking her dog recently when she stumbled upon a litter of practically cold kittens abandoned on the street. The poor souls had no one around them — their mother had most likely abandoned them. They weren’t moving much and couldn’t have been more than a day old. Nikki moved promptly and took her whole family to the veterinarian with her husband.
They were placed in suitable care by the shelter’s veterinarians after a cursory examination. They were back to normal in only a few days. Nikki and her husband were very fortunate in that they were able to preserve their lives. However, after a week, one of the kittens was clearly smaller than the rest. It needed additional assistance, so Nikki volunteered.
They nicknamed him Bagel and never gave up on him. Bagel was finally out of the woods, though it took some time. He was finally ready for adoption after a month of healing and a lot of love.
