Cats have a reputation for being distant, unapproachable, and self-sufficient animals. That does not rule out the possibility of their developing emotional attachments to their caregivers and owners. Whenever their owners are abruptly absent from their lives, they become aware of the absence.
If you look closely, you may see them hunting for their owner and waiting at the entrance, at the foot of the bed, or next to a favorite chair. They might also embark on a search for their long-lost owner.
