Elliot and Nathanial Green went to the shelter to adopt a cat, but a tiny blind kitty chose them instead.
During an adoption event, Elliot and Nathanial paid a visit to the Lynchburg Humane Society in Lynchburg, Virginia. They had wanted to adopt a Siamese kitten for a long time and were expecting to find one that day.
“All the Siamese kittens were either on hold or adopted,” Elliot said in the interview, “but happily, the lady helping us out thought Merlin would be the ideal fit.”
Merlin was a tiny kitten when he arrived at the shelter, in desperate need of medical care and loving home. He was born mostly blind and with a small stature.
When they met Merlin at the shelter…
They rushed to the shelter’s medical wing to greet the small bundle of fluff. Merlin knew he had visitors even if he couldn’t see them.
He greeted Elliot with a couple of sniffs, snuggled up in his arms, and started purring. “It was evident straight immediately when Merlin curled up to me that he was the perfect one,” Elliot told in the interview. “He was ready to be adopted and just be with people.”
They completed the paperwork, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Merlin instantly settled in and took the apartment as his own on his first day back. “The first thing he did was sniff around and familiarize himself with the surroundings.”
The feline navigates by using his senses of touch, smell, and hearing, and he has mapped out his home like a pro.
“Merlin has always seemed to be at ease in his surroundings, which has always impressed me. He’ll usually put his paw out first to see if whatever is in front of him, but after he’s been in a room, he’ll remember everything “In the interview, Elliot stated.
He’s the cutest little parrot kitty ever!
“He’s the calmest cat I’ve ever encountered. He only wants food and to be cuddled.”
